Overview
HMG21 is an Armor-buffing MG T-Doll with a Second-Volley Skill. Her well-placed Tile Buffs and high base stats make her very suitable for the role, as she deals very competitive first-volley damage when compared to other Armor-buffing MGs.
With a Damage value of 92 and an Accuracy of 29, HMG21’s important DPS stats are filled out nicely. Thanks to this, she is a useful MG T-Doll who can find use in the Armor-stacking niche, as her peers either rely on high investment Special Equipment (Alma, Ameli) or have lower base stats leading to worse first-volley damage (Negev, MG4). The drawback is that HMG21 comes with a fairly mediocre Skill.
Aside from the standard weaknesses of a Second-Volley skill, HMG21 has a low Damage modifier on Chaotic Collapse, as it is a dual buff of 40% Damage and 30% Accuracy. The Skill also adds 2 Rounds to the next magazine and alters HMG21’s targeting to Sweeping Mode, similar to how AUG and SAR21 target enemies.
The closest equivalent to this skill would be Lock and Load, and the corresponding Doll, MG4. MG4 instead receives no increased Accuracy and a 5% lower Damage buff, but is granted a total 4 extra rounds on the Second-Volley. However, HMG21 will come out favorably in a damage comparison due to her much better base stats and higher Rounds stat. HMG21's long-term damage potential should be considered lacking since she will not deal as much damage as the likes of Negev, Alma or QJY-88 in prolonged fights.
HMG21 is a Clear Reward T-Doll from Singularity, however, and she is guaranteed to be competitive in her role without additional investments. Commanders who need the 15% Armor tile buff option and lack better alternatives would benefit from raising a copy of HMG21.
Pros
Excellent Tile Buff and Coverage
HMG21 provides a 15% Armor and Damage tile for SGs that can be effectively used from multiple positions and in different compositions.
Good Base Stats
HMG21 features a good mix of Damage and Accuracy relative to her class. She can comfortably make use of an Optical Sight and still provide acceptable pre-Skill damage in her niche of providing Armor Buffs.
Cons
Weak Skill
Chaotic Collapse suffers from the high ICD of the Second Volley archetype, but it also has low multipliers compared to competitor Skills, even the infamous Lock and Load.
Limited Acquisition
HMG21 is a Clear Reward for the Singularity Event. While she is a guaranteed pick-up for any Commander who clears the Event Story, she must be linked with a full Core cost. She cannot be otherwise be acquired outside of events for Commanders who missed the Singularity event.
