The almighty Grape, Carcano M91/38. If you’re fortunate enough to have this 5★ RF in your arsenal, then you have yourself one of the most unrivalled and incredibly useful dolls in the entire game.
Carcano M91/38’s claim to fame is her skill, Mask of Hermes. This makes her perform a powerful attack when she reaches enough stacks, with every regular attack having a chance to gain two stacks and the active side of the skill instantly giving her the stacks she needs. This shot has a relatively low multiplier for elite enemies, but a massive multiplier for non-elites.
Where Carcano M91/38 comes into her element is against dangerous high HP foes that become more and more frequent as time goes on. For fighting the likes of Doppelsöldners or Hydras for example, her ability to dispatch these foes almost as if they’re nothing is incredibly valuable. As long as you ensure it stops moving once, Carcano M91/38 can likely one shot it.
While Carcano M91/38’s niche is incredibly valuable, she’s not a great choice when it’s not as needed. She does have high Damage, but her low Rate of Fire and lack of self buffs makes her a poor choice as a generalist. You also need to watch out for some enemies which don’t lose elite status when they stop moving such as bosses, Uhlans, and Patrollers.
Overall, Carcano M91/38 is a doll everyone should aim to acquire and raise. She is niche, but that niche is required very frequently. Just make sure to stick this Grape to what she does best and you’ll soon wonder how you ever lived without her.
All you need to know about Carcano M91/38 is located within this very skill. Whenever she reaches 18 stacks, she will fire a powerful shot which has a 3x modifier against elite enemies and a staggering 45x modifier against non-elites. You build stacks through either her passive, which gives her a 70% chance to gain 2 stacks with every shot, or her active, which just instantly gives her 18 stacks.
Most enemies will lose elite status when they stop moving. While a shot from Carcano M91/38 will be overkill for many normal enemies, it will more than prove its worth when your teams are face to face with menacing enemies like Doppelsöldners and Hydras. These enemies will possess high HP and a lot of firepower, so Grape’s ability to erase such foes in an instant is insanely valuable.
Carcano M91/38 may pack a high Damage stat of 146, but outside of her niche, this grape fails to impress. With a Rate of Fire of 34 and no self buffs on skill, Carcano M91/38 will be outpaced by other generalist RFs like R93, Rico, Lee-Enfield, WA2000, M14, and so on. Commanders will need to ensure that they pay attention to the enemies being fought and don’t bring her along to fights where her massive damage won’t be needed.
You will need to pay attention to which enemies don’t lose their elite status when they stop moving. Certain foes are considered permanently elite. This includes enemies such as all bosses, Uhlans, Patrollers, Typhons, and Goliaths. These enemies will all be better handled by dolls other than Carcano M91/38.
