Overview
Owner and bouncer of the VA-11 Hall-A Bar, Dana Zane makes use of her fighting skills as a SG with good tiles, decent enough base armor value of 22 and higher than normal base HP of 1345.
Pros
High Base HP
1345 HP is slightly high for a SG, one of the few things that matters for SGs anyways.
Excellent Tiles
With 15% damage and 15% accuracy tiles hitting all of the backline from position 6, Dana has excellent tile coverage and buffs.
Guaranteed Skill Knockback
Dana’s active skill is guaranteed to knockback whatever enemies it catches in its AOE.
Cons
Only 1 Robot Hand
With a clip size of 1, Dana is forced to reload her rocket fist after every shot, significantly lowering her damage output and ability to lower pressure with knockbacks.
1 Target Only
Dana’s passive does not allow her to target more than 1 enemy at a time rather than 3, also kneecapping her ability to deal damage and knockback enemies.
Event Limited Doll
Since she is a reward doll limited to the VA-11 HA11-A collab, Dana cannot be farmed for links and cannot be obtained now because the collab is over.
Long Initial Cooldown
Like most SGs, her longer initial cooldown means most fights a SG will be involved in should be over before her skill’s active portion makes a difference.
Low Skill Damage
Dana’s active has a very low multiplier that scales with armor of all stats.
Full analysis
Dana Zane has good tiles, decent enough base armor value of 22, and higher than normal base HP of 1345.
Due to her clip size of 1, Dana is forced to reload every shot and effectively restricts her attacks to about every 2 seconds, or 25 Rate of Fire. Additionally, her passive makes it so she can only auto-attack one enemy and cannot even stack her damage buff with slugs. So Dana delays incoming damage less since she can only knock one enemy back at a time instead of 3.
Her skill Crimson Geyser has her flip into the air and slam her target in an aoe burst attack that guarantees knockback. It has the typical 8 second initial cooldown and will rarely kick in for most fights she will be in. Assuming they last that long, it can compensate for her weaker knockback power, but it can be difficult to land the skill on groups of enemies due to targeting. It should also be noted that guaranteed knockback is also offered in SGs with the skill burst impact, which is a sure-hit that knockback targets for the same or more distance than Dana does.
The multiplier on the explosion stacks with Dana’s armor value, but with a base of 0.6x, the resulting multiplier is usually under 1x anyways. Her burst damage also falls short of other DPS SG options such as Saiga and Elphelt.
The HP shield Dana receives from Jill can be nice to increase survivability, as SGs make the best use out of HP shields and Dana’s skill multiplier scales with armor buffs, but that requires Jill to run Big Beer, which only buffs SGs and nothing else.
All in all, Dana is a decent SG with the base stats to perform the main armor tanking role well enough for most applications, but her janky skill mechanics make her fall short of other options in the more niche roles she tries to fill like DPS SG.
