M82 is a 4 star AR that’s originally farmable in Polarized Light. Boasting AR-15 premod stats and a respectable burst skill, M82 would have been a good pick, had the AR pool not been full with good ARs, future content not being heavily AR reliant, and TAR-21 existed on normal production. Old Commanders may choose to skip her altogether, as her burst skill makes her DPS fall off quickly in lengthy fights (such as fighting KCCO doggos) and they likely already have TAR-21, while newer commanders may find her useful for early content, if they lack TAR-21, due to her very strong skill.
Essentially having a stronger version of G36’s mod skill 1 and 2 combined, her 25% ROF and 75% FP means she is a very strong burst AR, which TAR-21 also have. Newer commanders may find some use from her as they progress toward the most recent content.
At 51 FP and 75 ROF M82 has decent stats among the ARs, on par with premod AR team, TAR-21 and G41.
Currently, there are plenty of self-buffer ARs that have a good performance. Since M82 doesn’t bring anything new to the table, on top of being a burst AR, means that she faces heavy competition among veteran Commanders who likely have several ARs raised. The upcoming advent of SF capture also means that Commanders, both new and old, have fewer reasons to raise newer ARs that aren’t exceptional, and unfortunately M82 is one of them
Despite her strong burst, M82 performs slightly worse than G41, the benchmark AR, if the battle drags on past 10 seconds, which they often will on recent content.
She is almost a carbon copy of TAR-21, as they have the same skill, while TAR has 49 FP and 79 ROF. However, TAR-21 has her SPEQ, which makes her a better option than M82. Any Commander that has a TAR-21, especially with her SPEQ, has no reason to level up M82 or even acquire her, outside of collectionism or waifu reasons.
