Overview
K2’s claim to fame is her ridiculous early burst DPS. With her Passive, K2 can deal very high amounts of damage well before the other ARs in the echelon have activated their own skills. However, she suffers massively against armor due to the mechanics of her Passive. In addition, if a fight goes on for a while, K2’s Passive will inflict a progressively building Damage and Accuracy debuff, which can only be cleared by using her Active. That said, her Active massively reduces her movement speed, which kills her chances of being useful in longer battles, as some of them demand you to move your DPS around too.
Pros
Incredible Early DPS
K2’s passive can be treated as a 0s ICD Multihit skill, giving her huge amounts of DPS early into a fight.
Decent Base Stats
K2’s Base Stats are overall fairly decent, with nothing that is outright bad.
Cons
Completely Ineffective Against Armor
K2’s Passive can demolish unarmored targets, but her FP is split between three shots with notably reduced damage in said mode. This means her damage against armored enemies is going to be some of the worst among ARs.
Bad Sustained DPS
K2’s passive also incurs a “Heat” counter on her for every attack performed in this state. If this counter builds too much, K2’s DPS drops off massively without using her Active, but that has its own problems.
Full analysis
K2’s base stats, as mentioned in her Strengths and Weaknesses section, are fairly decent. There isn’t anything about them that stands out as being bad, which is good news for her.
K2’s Skill, Overheat, is what enables K2 to have extremely powerful early DPS, in the right circumstances. Most unarmored trash mobs are quickly demolished by K2’s Passive, which can also easily eat through enemy link protection due to its multishot nature. K2’s Passive will also be useful against a future enemy, so keep a lookout for that opportunity. However, because her Passive splits her Damage between three shots with 52% FP, K2’s performance against even lightly armored enemies suffers massively. If a fight goes on too long, K2 will begin applying a stacking debuff to her Damage and Accuracy. The debuff is weak at first, but if not addressed quickly, K2’s DPS will see a massive drop. Using her Active Mode, K2 can clear stacks of her own debuff, and gain a stacking 5% damage self buff per hit on the same target (maxing out at about a 63% buff). Unfortunately, her Active Mode also reduces her movement speed by a significant 40%, which neuters her ability to handle longer fights, as those usually require moving your DPS dolls to dodge powerful attacks.
K2’s tile buff isn’t really anything special. While the buff to SMG Damage and Accuracy is good for Off-Tanks, K2 will usually occupy the 1 Position, meaning she will only buff your Main Tank. Regardless, buffing your tanks should be an afterthought, so it’s nothing worth losing sleep over.
In sum, if you are looking for an AR that is hyper-specialized for early DPS against unarmored trash mobs, K2 will not disappoint.
