KS-23 is a three-star craftable Soviet Shotgun who features an excellent stat base and a strong tile buff. Her only notable weaknesses is arguably her single tile buff and its bad coverage, but this weakness is quite problematic. Because this issue forces KS-23’s Echelon into an awkward formation to try and mitigate the problem, she is made to be less effective than she could be. In summary, KS-23 is a strong tank with a fair amount of potential to dish out Damage, but her mediocre tile placement will require some outside help if one wants to properly utilize it.
KS-23 was gifted with the highest Damage and HP pool out of all Shotguns while still keeping an Armor stat of 21. Overall, her stats are simply excellent for what she is meant to do.
KS-23 offers the best possible mix of stat boosts for MGs, providing one of them with 12% Damage and 30% Accuracy tile buff.
While KS-23’s tile buff is strong, it has a mediocre placement that forces her into inefficient Echelon formations.
KS-23’s skill, Damage Focus SG -- while making great use of her Damage stat -- simply has a too long Initial Cooldown to make its activation feasible during most battles.
KS-23, also known as “The Shark” is a very capable Shotgun given the appropriate conditions. Her stats are simply excellent and not lacking in any regard, and because of this KS-23 can withstand even the most powerful of foes for a decent period even if she is not a defensive SG. KS-23’s tile buff is also strong, but it’s severely held back by her horrible tile coverage. Not only is she forced into the upper right corner to make use of her buffs, but she is also only able to buff a single MG. Due to this reason, KS-23 forces the Echelon into 2SG compositions if she wants to be truly effective -- a formation which is less than ideal. There is not a lot of reason to use two SGs if using one is possible since that means forgoing a damage dealer or additional buffer, and there are currently SGs who can tank all on their own who don’t have the issues KS-23 has.
KS-23 has the highest Damage stat out of all Shotguns with a Skill that increases it by 120% and grants her 2 extra targets to boot. On paper, this Skill looks amazing, but in practice she virtually never gets to use it because of its high Initial Cooldown of 8 seconds. This means KS-23 will not use her Skill outside of a handful boss battles so it can’t really be called a notable strength.
Overall, KS-23 is a serviceable tank with versatility issues because of her poor tile coverage. This can be remedied with a 2SG Echelon composition, but bear in mind that it still fails to be practical in a vast majority of cases. KS-23 can be employed under the proper conditions and pull her weight very well if one desires to use her, but it takes more investment than some of her other SG counterparts require.
