Overview
L85A1 is one of the better 2 star ARs because of her high RoF and strong self-buff skill. She can be a solid early game choice for players trying to budget cores, especially when paired with SMGs that can buff her somewhat low Damage. Like several other low rarity ARs, however, L85A1 suffers from below-average stats and a weak formation buff, which severely limits her viability in the mid and late game. Because of this, while she’s a serviceable AR, she’s far from being a great one.
Pros
Good Targeted Damage
L85A1’s single target damage is better than that of most other low rarity ARs. Her high base RoF and Charge Focus Skill provides her with decent DPS.
Cons
Mediocre Overall Stats
L85A1 has below average base values for Damage and Accuracy, which hurts her ability to scale well into the late game.
Weak Formation Buff
L85A1’s buff tiles are very ineffective, as it affects only the square directly adjacent beside to her, not in front of her. As such, she cannot buff SMGs in a standard F formation.
Full analysis
L85A1’s stats are not terribly impressive, with her Damage and Accuracy slightly below average and only her maximum RoF standing out among most ARs. When provided with formation buffs that supplement her low base Damage, however, L85A1 can still be a reasonable DPS unit in the early game due to her Skill.
L85’s Skill, Charge Focus, provides her with a 35% boost to Damage and a 15% boost to RoF for 5 seconds at maximum level. Although not as powerful as the Damage Focus skill that other ARs have due to the split in stat boosts, Charge Focus still makes L85A1 a better DPS unit than most of the other 2 and 3 star ARs.
Unfortunately, L85A1’s formation buff is basically useless as it only applies to the square directly adjacent beside her instead of in front of her. This means she can only provide her buff to an SMG safely when in a + formation, which is always suboptimal for AR+SMG Echelons. Ideally, L85A1 can be placed in the bottom corner position of an F formation so that the two ARs above her can effectively provide their buffs to the SMGs in the front column, but even in this situation, her buff in wasted. Due to this reason, L85A1 does not offer as much utility as her AR brethren and therefore struggles to compete with them.
Overall, L85A1 is one of the better early game budget AR choices due to her strong Skill. Her suboptimal buff tile placement and generally low overall stats, however, make L85A1 scale very poorly into the late game, and as such it is not recommended to use her if other ARs are readily available.
