M16A1, the infamous American rifle, is in Girls’ Frontline an impostor. Almost an SMG disguised as an AR, M16A1 is often mistaken by new Commanders for a DPS unit due to her class. But if her inability to equip an accessory, which means she can neither equip VFLs and EOTs during the day, nor PEQs to offset the night penalty, is not enough of an indicator she is not a DPS unit, then her two T-Doll slots should be, as it allows her to equip an armor plate/her SPEQ and a T Exo at the same time.
However, because 12-4e and 13-4 are both farmable maps better than 0-2, as they have a higher Core drop, higher base EXP, and no EXP penalty (0-2 penalises with a 10% loss T-Dolls from level 113 upwards), M16A1 is sadly relegated to be an obscure niche tank once Commanders graduate from 0-2, and an enigmatic ally-sometimes enemy-on Girls’ Frontline lore.
Having two T-Doll slots, M16 can equip two pieces of Doll equipment to enhance her tanking capacity. New Commanders will equip an Armor plate and a T Exoskeleton to lower the repair bill in 0-2 as much as possible
Her SPEQ gives her 20 Armor and 10 Evasion at the cost of 10 RoF and 20 Accuracy. While this may seem greatly detrimental to her DPS, that would be akin to saying this is detrimental to an SMG’s DPS. The buff in M16A1’s tanking capacity, especially because of the Armor stat vastly outweighs any DPS loss it gives.
She’s drop dead gorgeous in it. Nuff said
This is part of what establishes M16A1 as purely a tank AR rather than a typical DPS AR. Her inability to equip an accessory means she can’t offset the night penalty due to a lack of PEQs, and she can’t equip a VFL at day, which is a big source of DPS for ARs.
While AR chips is now a thing, her inability to equip even an EOT still means she lags behind most ARs during day missions.
M16A1’s tanking capacity heavily relies on enemies dealing damage lower than her SPEQ Armor’s, as well as not having an accuracy too high, since M16A1 still has (20 Armor).
Her SPEQ is farmable in chapter 6-4N, which isn’t a chapter easy to farm, nor easy to complete to do Auto-Battle farming. With 12-4e and 13-4 now in EN, it’s likely Commanders may end up graduating from 0-2 before they manage to get her SPEQ, even with the release of Auto Battle Tickets.
