[Passive]: If currently assigned as an echelons leader, permanently reduces own rate of fire by 35% while increasing allied Rifles' critical hit rate by ($crt_value)% and critical hit damage by ($crtd_value)%. [Active]: When skill is activated, allies on her tiles gain ($dam_value)% damage and ($rof_value)% rate of fire for ($duration) seconds. [EQ Passive]: When equipped with "Old Camouflage Uniform", does not reduce own rate of fire when assigned as the echelons leader.
One look at M1908 Mondragon, and a Commander may think there is no better Support RF possible: she looks cool, she buffs RFs with Damage on her tiles, and buffs Crit Damage, Crit Rate, RoF and Damage with her Skill. When looking at her kit alone, Mondragon looks like the perfect RF for a 3 RF team.
Unfortunately, Dolls don’t exist in a vaccum, which means her performance isn’t measured by her numbers alone. When compared to great HGs like Stechkin Mod, Five-Seven and even SAA Mod, Mondragon has a hard time justifying losing kiting ability (due to both losing a third HG that can be used on kiting, and a HG on Position 4 that can be kited) to have a third RF. Moreover, even if she provides decent support, 3 RF teams are still somewhat faced with the issue of Corpse-whipping, even if newer content bringing enemies with larger HP pools reduced the effect of this. In the end, seasoned Commanders may find some use for Mondragon in battles that won’t require extensive kiting, while new Commanders can benefit from using Mondragon if they lack good support HGs, as early to mid game content doesn’t require extensive kiting.
Her login SPEQ, Old Camouflage Uniform, negates her RoF penalty when Mondragon is an Echelon’s leader. Tha means Mondragon retains her high RoF stat while also dishing out buffs to her RF allies.
An RF support is a rare thing, with the most notable mentions being De Lisle (which will see more use post Dual Randomness) and Carcano M1891 “Pink”, commonly known as Python’s SPEQ due to their synergy. Mondragon adds a breath of fresh air to this category by providing a simple to use yet effective kit.
At 41 base RoF, Mondragon sits close to M14, who has 43 RoF and is known for her very high RoF base. That means Mondragon more or less compensate her low Damage stat with a high RoF stat. Her SPEQ also ensures she doesn’t lose that balance when she is fielded as a leader in an Echelon.
Mondragon looks cool, even more in her Detective Skin, and fortunately has the kit to backup her cool-ness.
At 112, Mondragon borderlines being a laughing stock in the Damage department. 2 star RFs like FN49, G43 and SVT-38 all have similar Damage stats, while Mondragon herself lags behind several of her 4 star counterparts, and 5 star counterparts too.
3 RF teams are, by nature, way more rigid than most 2 RF teams, due to the lack of a third HG to kite/retreat kite, and a HG on Position 4. This means that using Mondragons in battles that requires extensive kiting so the team avoids being heavily damaged, like most fights against armored KCCO enemies, is less than ideal.
As her SPEQ is a login SPEQ from Dual Randomness Login Event, and, as of her release, it’s not known if they’ll be rerun in a Login event or sold at the Black Market, Commanders who missed her SPEQ will see a subpar performance compared to almost all of her peers, which makes even more likely for her to be set aside by an HG. And, speaking of which…
While having an easy to understand kit makes using her easy, it also makes it easy to compare her to traditional support HGs like Stechkin Mod, Five-Seven, Saa Mod. Depending on the support HG, Mondragon is actually outclassed in terms of the support she offers, making her team actually lag behind teams that use the aforementioned HGs.
Half of her support kit comes from her active Skill, which buffs 15% damage and 12% RoF for allies on her tiles (which means she will almost always buff the other two RFs). However, her Skill has a meagre uptime of 5/16, which means that the RFs will spend most of the battle without her buffs.
