The MP-448 is a 3★ HG obtained as the login reward for May 2020.
Unlike a lot of login rewards, MP-448 has a lot of positives going for her. Her tile buffs are great, giving 12% Damage and 20% RoF. She also shares her tile layout with Welrod MKII, allowing for versatility in her position within a team.
Her skill, Cover Suppression, reduces all enemies’ evasion by 46% for 8 seconds. Despite being a debuff, this can be a surprisingly effective DPS boost when facing evasive enemies at night. This skill loses a lot of its effectiveness in the day however, and is naturally useless against enemies with 0 evasion.
Overall, MP-448 stands out as one of the solid login rewards HGs, alongside the likes of other HGs such as Type 59 and Serdyukov. She will be a worthwhile investment for those that do not dupe in particular. Even then, those that do dupe may find some value in her.
MP-448 comes with the same tile layout as the popular Welrod MKII, covering the full backline and the dolls above and below her from tile 5. The tiles themselves buff for 12% Damage and 20% RoF. This is, again, similar to Welrod MKII except she buffs Damage more while MP-448 buffs RoF more.
These tiles are universally useful for practically any RFHG team, meaning it’s hard to go wrong with placing MP-448 in a good position.
Cover Suppression is a debuff skill, which is normally strictly inferior to regular buffs. This case is slightly different however. She debuffs evasion, which proves its worth against enemies with evasion at night. Compared to regular buffers such as Mk23, the lost damage per shot is made up for with the RFs being able to land considerably more shots on average.
(This simulation is done against 12 evasion enemies at night. The other two HGs present are Five-seveN and Px4 Storm. As it is not out yet on EN, Lee-Enfield is equipping a standard VFL and not her Special Equipment.)
While MP-448 will be by no means always as effective as regular HG buffers at night, her ability to theoretically match them in DPS increase makes her a viable offensive substitute for Welrod/Makarov.
While her skill is effective against evasive night enemies, it offers little outside of this case. During the day, RFs will have high enough accuracy to the point where the DPS gained from the reduced evasion is minimal at best. On top of this, her skill is completely worthless when fighting enemies which have 0 evasion to begin with.
In these cases, regular HG buffers will outshine MP-448 significantly.
