Another member of the G&K Power Ranger squad has assembled! This time, the yellow ranger PM-9 has arrived as a free 5★ SMG event reward. This plucky little submachine gun makes for a great defensive off-tank choice with a couple of nifty quirks.
Statistically, her Evasion is some of the highest in the SMG category. Her skill, Phantasmal Dark Force, exemplifies this even further by doubling her Evasion. During her skill, all attacks will also deal two instances of damage, granting her an interesting niche against enemies which reduce their damage taken such as Orthrus’. She also has good off-tank tiles.
PM-9 does have a couple of drawbacks. Her skill reduces her damage and accuracy, so dealing two instances of damage is not as big of a DPS increase and one might initially think. Her role is still primarily geared towards defensive play as a result. Her HP is also below average for SMGs.
All in all, PM-9 will serve as a worthwhile addition to the rosters of most commanders. With the need for defensive off-tanks becoming more common as the game progresses, PM-9 will be a welcome choice that can still offer more than just her tankiness.
PM-9’s still has two main components to it. Firstly, it increases her Evasion by 100% while reducing her Damage and Accuracy by 30%. Combined with her high Evasion stat of 85, this is a substantial boost to her defensive capabilities.
Secondly, for the duration of the skill, all attacks deal two instances of damage, effectively doubling the damage output. In actuality, this is only a 40% DPS increase due to her damage reduction, so the primary focus of this skill is still on defensive play. This aspect of the skill still allows her to fulfil a good niche against enemies such as Orthrus (The KCCO dogs that put up shields) where her multihits will show the most benefit.
PM-9 has the same tile layout as Honey Badger, buffing Positions 1 and 7 from Position 8. She boosts Rate of Fire by 15% and Accuracy by 30%. This is a good set of tiles overall for an off-tank SMG.
PM-9 has 176 HP per dummy link, coming to 880 HP total. This is on the lower end for SMGs, but her high Evasion helps to make up for this issue
