So, are you a kid, or are you a squid?... Neither? It’s ok, TKB-408 will still be happy as long as you bring her the paint she needs. TKB-408 joins as a 5★ AR specializing in night battles with the intention of enhancing her crit potential at night, something ARs tend to falter in. Sadly, she fails in this intention.
TKB’s skill boosts her Damage and Crit Damage more so at Night, as well as granting her a Crit Rate boost at night when there’s more than 3 (4 or 5) different doll types on the field. In practice, she’ll perform a little worse than Groza on average against non-armoured targets. Groza excels a lot more against armoured targets however, due to how crit damage is calculated after armour.
Her supposed niche as a crit focused night specialist is neutered by the restrictive access to the Crit Rate buff. With the need for 4 different doll types on the field at once, it is very awkward to make use of this buff.
With this in mind, TKB-408 sadly serves no real purpose for developed commanders. There are so many ARs that don’t even specialise in night combat that will outperform her: AS Val MOD and ST AR-15 both crit at night with far greater success, while Groza has the niche of armour puncture. If her 4 fans want any solace, she’s still about the level of Groza for non-armoured targets, so it’s not like she’s an outright bad choice if you happen to lack Groza. She’s completely serviceable for those that do like her and just want a new cool doll to use.
At night, TKB will perform perfectly fine for general combat. With 55 Damage, 72 Rate of Fire, and her skill, she’ll showcase similar performance at night to Groza against unarmoured foes. In instances where she gets lucky and gets some crits off, she may slightly outperform her too.
TKB has a nice set of tiles, coming with 25% Damage and 50% Accuracy. The 25% Damage is nice for any off-tank SMG, while the 50% Accuracy will benefit your off-tank if they happen to be a Direct Fire SMG.
Her tile layout forces you to use a non-conventional layout though, with her in Position 4 and thus having your HG placed elsewhere.
Despite what was said above, TKB-408 doesn’t actually have much going for her as a Night Specialist. Her skills grants 70% Crit Damage by default and 30% Crit Rate if at night and there’s more than 3 (4 or 5) different doll types in the team.
The Crit Rate buff is additive, but the need to have 4 different doll types on the field at once (yes, retreating will remove the buff if it puts you below 4 different doll types). There’s hardly any cases where one would want a night echelon as such, so trying to use TKB to her full potential is extremely awkward.
Her Crit Damage buff is nice though. At base she deals 150% Crit Damage like most ARs, and with a 70% boost, she’ll go up to a solid 255% Crit Damage. Sadly this doesn’t help her performance against armoured foes as much, since Crit Damage is calculated after Armour damage reduction.
As is natural for night specialists, their day performance is not good. In the day, TKB only gets a measly 28% Damage and 28% Crit Damage boost. With a lot of the hard content maps in the future actually switching to being daytime focused, this makes TKB (and by extension all night specialists) much less valuable.
