ICD: CD:
[Passive]: Obtains +1 stack of "Destruct" every second. For every stack of "Destruct" currently active, increases own final damage by ($pass_value)% up to a max of 10 stacks. [Active]: Consumes all stacks of "Destruct" and obtains damage/accuracy/rate of fire equivalent to the stat of the enemies with the highest respective stat. The stat gain is capped at ($dam_value)% of self damage, ($acc_value)% of self accuracy and ($rof_value)% of self rate of fire. The effect lasts for ($duration) seconds and no stacks of "Destruct" can be gained throughout the skills duration.
Nope, this is not some technological blast from the past back to the 70s. This is actually the Assault Rifle VHS, a 5★ you can obtain from the Dual Randomness event. She is a quite quirky AR that steals enemy stats and adds them to her own, but all you really need to understand is she’s another generalist AR for the most part.
Her skill, Destructive Hacking, has both a passive and active effect. Passively, she will gain a stack of Analysis every second that boosts her damage dealt. Actively, she will clear all her Analysis stats and boost her Damage, Rate of Fire, and Accuracy based on the highest value of those stats among the enemies. In practice, this just means more damage.
VHS is most directly comparable to AK-12, whose skill also buffs all these stats (and Crit Rate) for a similar length of time. If VHS were to hit all her caps on active skill, she will outperform AK-12 with ease. However, the volatile nature of this skill means this won’t be consistent. Given the stronger enemies faced nowadays, VHS will typically be on par with AK-12 at worst, but can be weaker or even much stronger depending on the context.
Overall, VHS serves as a strong AR that is typically comparable to AK-12. That’s nothing to scoff at, though the latest content is favouring RFs moreso than ARs. If you already have a plentiful supply of strong general ARs, VHS is mostly just another one, but she is nevertheless among the top of the pile.
VHS’s skill has two components. The primary component is the active effect, where VHS steals the highest values of Damage, Rate of Fire, and Accuracy from the enemies and adds them to herself. Note that this does have a hard cap of 45% Damage, 40% Rate of Fire, and 80% Accuracy. If she’s able to get close or even cap these stats, her performance will exceed that of AK-12, and in general she’ll match similar with her output. This skill also has a 6 second duration and 8 second cooldown, resulting in a mere 2 seconds of downtime.
The passive component has her gaining stacks of Analysis every second, which boosts her final damage by 2.5% per stack and maxes at 10 stacks. Given her active component clears all Analysis stacks, this isn’t an effect that will benefit her much overall, but it’s something that fills the Initial Cooldown duration at least.
VHS comes with a great offensive baseline of 57 Damage and 78 Rate of Fire, both high among ARs. This is very slightly better than AK-12 who has 56 Damage and 78 Rate of Fire.
From position 5, VHS will buff SMGs in positions 3, 6, and 9 for 30% Accuracy and 18% Evasion. The Evasion boost will be much appreciated by any SMG.
Given that her active skill has her stealing the stats of enemies, the amount of benefit she’ll get is naturally dependent on the enemies she is facing. This means her performance can noticeably vary from fight to fight.
Current content is overall not too friendly towards ARs. While they still have their use, RFs are largely the dominant meta choice for damage dealing. Given this lower need for ARs, veteran Commanders may find VHS rather unnecessary, especially if they have a large roster of ARs already available.
